Indonesia's Premier Drilling Contractor
PT Greatwall Drilling Asia Pacific (GDAP) is a leading drilling contractor and oilfield services company headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia. As a subsidiary of Greatwall Drilling Company (GWDC), a member of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), GDAP combines global expertise, advanced technology, and strong operational support to deliver reliable drilling solutions across Indonesia.
With a fleet of 14 land drilling rigs and 1 offshore drilling rig, supported by a workforce of more than 1,000 experienced professionals, GDAP provides a comprehensive range of services, including conventional land drilling, high-pressure high-temperature (HPHT) drilling, offshore drilling operations, workover services, and integrated drilling support solutions. Our operational capabilities are reinforced by robust maintenance systems, extensive spare parts inventories, and direct access to GWDC's global technical resources.
Safety remains the foundation of our operations. GDAP maintains a strong HSE culture focused on protecting people, assets, and the environment. Our industry-leading safety performance, highlighted by an outstanding Lost Time Incident Rate (LTIR) and more than 8.5 million man-hours worked without a Lost Time Incident, demonstrates our commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Our Journey
Company History
First Entry to Indonesia
Greatwall Drilling Company entered the Indonesian market with two 450 HP workover rigs, commencing operations for Caltex (now Chevron Pacific Indonesia).
Mud Engineering Services
Secured the first Mud Engineering service contract with PetroChina International Jabung, expanding our service capability beyond rig operations.
Indonesia Branch Established
Formally established as the Great Wall Drilling Company Indonesia Branch, integrating both onshore rig and drilling fluid services under one entity.
GDAP Incorporated
PT Greatwall Drilling Asia Pacific (GDAP) was formally incorporated on 22 January 2009 as the dedicated Indonesia entity of GWDC, expanding the vision to serve the wider Asia Pacific region.
First 2,000 HP Rig in Indonesia
GW-123 (ZJ70D, 2,000 HP), our first heavy-duty land drilling rig, arrived in Indonesia to operate for CITIC Seram Energy Limited at Seram Non Bula, Maluku.
First Full IPM Contract
After securing a semi-IPM in 2011, GDAP won its first full IPM project for SPC Mahakam Hilir Pte. Ltd. in Samarinda, handling 18 services under one single contract.
Geothermal IPM & ISO Certification
Awarded the first IPM Geothermal contract and drilled 7 geothermal wells at Sorik Marapi and Sokoria. In 2020, brought 2 more 2,000 HP rigs and 3 cementing units. Received ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 from TÜV NORD Indonesia.
Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga Contract
GDAP awarded with 2 Drilling Rig 2,000 HP (GW-207 VFD & GW-265 SCR) for Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga operations, significantly expanding our active fleet in Kalimantan.
Pertamina Hulu Rokan — New Rig Fleet
Awarded 3 brand new 550 HP rigs and 1 brand new 750 HP rig at Pertamina Hulu Rokan, plus 1 additional 2,000 HP rig at Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga, bringing GDAP's active land rig fleet to 8 units.
Major Fleet Expansion & New IPM Contracts
GDAP awarded 5 brand new workover rigs (450–550 HP), and won two new IPM contracts: with PetroChina International Jabung Ltd (2 exploration wells) and Genting Oil Kasuri Pte. Ltd.
First Offshore — ZHY-16 Jack Up Rig
GDAP awarded its first offshore jack up rig contract: ZHY-16 (Zhong You Hai 16, 6,000 HP) with Pertamina Hulu Mahakam — marking GDAP's entry into offshore drilling operations.
